Rules for a Weight Loss plan

We all know there are certain things to do and not do that will help us with our weight loss goals. Sometimes we make exceptions and sometimes we just forget to be healthy. I am setting up these rules more as a guide-line than laws to stay healthy. Most of these are reminders.

  1. Exercise Everyday Try to get the heart rate above 135 for at least 5 minutes twice a day.
  2. Drink a glass of water before each meal.
  3. Don't over eat Take time between each bite to breath or take a sip of water.
  4. Protein with each meal Have a least a little protein, and it can be a non meat.
  5. 5 servings of fruit or veggies a day.
  6. Don't eat after 7 pm
  7. Use dinner to set up a night time fasting 3 or 4 times a week. Go to bed a little hungry. Eat just a little protein, and wake up to tea with lemon and later a healthy breakfast with lots of protein.
  8. Stay away from starch and sugar.
  9. Carry some healthy food around so if there is a temptation you´re covered.
  10. Set up long term goals and make them happen.

OK so these rules are not so hard. And should be easy to follow.

  1. I had someone tell me to eat three meals a day like this…eat like a King in the morning always a good breakfast, then like a Queen at lunch and finally like a pauper at night.

I don’t know about anyone else but getting weight off over 50 is extremely hard but….I will not give up!

  2. Way to go Pattie you are on the right track. Bang on with the meals, I always feel better the next morning if I eat light the night before. Yup loosing weight is crazy hard over fifty, hang in there. Here is a small tip for the morning I would like to share. A friend of mine explained to me that the pith of any citrus fruit fruit is very good for colesteral. I make fruit shakes in the morning and started adding a knife peeled (to leave as much pith as possible) cut up grapefruit, 1/2 cup strawberry, 1/2 cup mango or blackberry and a banana in a blender with some water or juice. Mix until all ingrediants are liquified. I use frozen and fresh fruit depending on what is available and in any combination, the frozen give a refreshing start to the drink. This stuff is drano for the viens, liver and kidneys and a great day starter. I dont drink coffee any more so this drink is my booster replacement. Hey add some protien and you have low fat high octane fuel ta git ya goin!

  3. how can you not eat after 7pm if you work full time – its at least 6.30 before I get home!

It seems the motivation is not there after 50. I have been losing weight on a regular basis since I was 13. This menopause, 50 weight thing is not something I bargined for? I do eat right. I eat breakfast. I have two snacks. I have lunch. I really could care less about dinner. But my horomones are out-of-control on a regular basis. I always have great ideas to get moving but then the weather changes my plans. I just let the exercise decline for the past two weeks for reasons I have no idea? I love exercise and the going to the gym, riding my bicycle outdoors, running, skiing, etc? But here I am 50 something and thing on one of the money based diet organizations. Jenny, here I come?

    • I know what you mean, I’ve just started to cutting out (almost all) sugars and cutting back on starches, like bread cereals, and increasing veggies, proteins and good fats. My idea is to switch from a sugar burning metabolism to fat burning and I’m starting to see some progress(losing weigh). I still believe there’s no vitamins or shakes that are better for you that a healthy diet.
